Xinyi has an expressive way of being that catches the eye and it is exactly this special quality that makes her so bright and makes her different from others in a group of people. At first you might think she’s a person who is stuck-up and has a feeling of being better than others and that is why people feel scared and don't want to talk to her; however that does not mean she thinks she is better than them. Rather she expects complete respect from everyone. She is actually an elegant person. She often seems mysterious and attractive with a charm that pulls people in but is hard to understand. One quality that makes Xinyi different is definitely her love of talking about people. She likes to hear what others have to say, their secrets knowing who dislikes whom and who owes what to whom. She uses this information to her advantage. Always in a careful way. She never says anything when she shouldn't. In fact when she speaks it is because she has something that's sharp, smart or helpful to say.

Biography

Childhood

Xīnyí comes from a family of artisans and merchants in the Middle Ring of Ba Sing Se. They are known for selling silks and perfumes to the elite in the Upper Ring. From the time she was very young Xīnyí worked in the family shop. She spent most of her childhood watching noblewomen walk into the store. She paid attention to how they carried themselves how they spoke and what they said while trying on clothes. She listened to their conversations, their secrets, their small talks. This taught her that the world belongs to those who have money and titles. It also showed her that grace and knowledge could be learned, even if you were not born into privilege.

Xīnyí didn’t play in the dirt with the children. Instead she stayed in her room with her dolls. She practiced how to serve tea like a lady, how to walk softly how to speak in an pleasant voice. She learned to read. She studied everything she could about the noble families of Ba Sing Se. She wanted to be someone who looked and acted like a noblewoman even if she was not one by birth.

Even though she didn’t have a title she believed she could become one through work and careful planning. Now that her parents are older she manages their money. She wants to help them move to a part of the city a place that gives them more opportunities.. Her true desire is much deeper, than that. She wants to rise above her roots. She wants to enter society. She wants to find an ally who can help her live a life of comfort and dignity.
