Kyoshi Island

Kyoshi Island is a province, and town, in the Southern Sea of the Earth Kingdom, east of Zaofu. It is home to Kyoshi, or more commonly known as just "Kyoshi Island" which is a small town by Kyoshi Beach. Kyoshi Island has three main housing villages. It is well known as the adopted home of Avatar Kyoshi and the residence of the elite Kyoshi Warriors, a once all-female elite guard of non-benders. As a result, the village on the island hosts a statue of its revered Avatar, and one of the villages has converted a temple into a shrine dedicated to her. The island is characterized by its relative seclusion and mineral-rich gold node. Famously, the island was once a peninsula turned island by Avatar Kyoshi who separated it due to threats made by Chin the Conquerer and the island remained relatively untouched during the Hundred Year War due to this. Kyoshi Island's infrastructure has remained somewhat the same since since it's erection in 270 BG. There have been numerous Kyoshi Leaders in the past being ruled currently by Kyoshi Leader Aea Dainagon.
In an effort to preserve the culture of Kyoshi Island, and other places dotted around the Earth Kingdom, the ruler of Kyoshi Island is primarily known as the Kyoshi Leader, and secondarily known as Zongdu of Kyoshi Island. The Kyoshi Leader is also the leader of the Kyoshi Warriors which historically only comprised of female non-benders but over time transformed and are now militia of highly skilled benders, regardless of element or gender.
