Chunying

Chunying is a province in the western Earth Kingdom, east of Republic City and west of the Bian River. It is home to the towns of Bei Da Feng and Makapu, as well as the ruins of Taku. Chunying has been a focal point of relations between the Earth Kingdom and United Republic, and during the Hundred Year War it was part of the Hu Xin provinces which were colonized by the Fire Nation. Once a relatively rural and peaceful area bound by the Bian to the east, the Rhéng River to the west, and the Mo Ce Sea to the south, Chunying was relinquished by Earth King Kuei in an effort to form the United Republic. As Cranefish Town across the Rhéng expanded into Republic City, the western headland of Chunying province slowly became urbanized. Meanwhile, the town of Bei Da Feng was founded up the river, becoming the political and cultural capital of the province. Over the course of decades, Chunying was transferred between the Earth Kingdom, United Republic, Fire Nation, and even Sun Warriors, and became known as the province of Kang during the 3rd United Republic, before being ceded back to the Earth Kingdom in year 168. The cherry blossom, due to its prevalence around Bei Da Feng, has become a cultural symbol of Chunying province. It is ruled by the Zongdu of Chunying, currently Huang Ling.
