Betan Hou-Ting (Hóutíng Bèitǎn, 侯庭·贝坦) was the 53rd Earth King of the Earth Kingdom, reigning from 112 AG to 120 AG. He ascended to the throne following the assassination of Earth King Kuei Hou-Ting by a faction of anti-monarchy radicals, who were later captured and executed.
His reign is most notable for the temporary dissolution of the Earth Kingdom. In 120 AG, Betan signed authority over the kingdom to the United Republic of Nations. During the same period, Omashu Monarch Aran dissolved the independent nation of Omashu and likewise transferred its administration to the United Republic.
Later that year, President Porco Lee reinstated the Earth Kingdom and transferred authority to Earth Queen Amomi Enren, who succeeded Betan Hou-Ting. Following the restoration of the monarchy, the Earth Kingdom and the United Republic jointly launched the Han'ei Highways project to improve transportation and continental infrastructure.
