Basalt Alliance was an alliance between the Earth Kingdom and Fire Nation during the reign of Earth King Izocoa Dainagon and Fire Lord Azutoru Dainagon for the purposes of military & trade agreement which was signed in 134 AG.
In 141 AG, the agreement broke down when Earth Queen Destra Beifong and her Council attempted to negotiate the return of Izo, a territory originally belonging to the Earth Kingdom, from the Fire Nation. During the negotiations, Earth Kingdom argued using the reports of rogue Fire Nation citizens attacking Earth Kingdom officials as leverage to gain an advantage in talks. Fire Lord Laia Yuka initially apologised for the incidents but later ended negotiations, resulting in the collapse of the Basalt Alliance.
