Apoy is the volcanic prison island of the Sun Warriors located West of Bianqui. It is currently led by a Warden, who is appointed by the Sun Council.

Previously, before this island was transformed into a prison, it was under the control of the Western Air Temple unti it was acquired during the reign of Azutoru Dainagon. In 138 AG, Island Elder Sasha DeCassian demanded the return of several islands that had previously belonged to the Air Nation, including Patajara, Astamanam, Moungga, Narasanhara, and Khet from the Water Tribe, as well as Bianqui, Apoy, and Chieseret south of the Western Air Temple.

These islands had originally been taken by the Water Tribe under Chieftess Rin Mejin, who coerced the Air Nation into surrendering them. This arrangement was later made public and became a point of diplomatic controversy. Over time, control of some of these territories shifted again through additional agreements and transfers, including passage to the Sun Empire and later involvement by the Foggy Swamp Tribe.
