Loian Hemero

Loian Hemero was a Domestic Minister of the Earth Kingdom and a Firebender. Following the disappearance of Earth King Yohai in Ba Sing Se, he proclaimed himself Earth King during a period of political instability and contested succession. His claim to the throne was widely regarded as illegitimate and was publicly denounced by Fire Lord Hanako, who stated that the action went against the intentions of both Earth King Xaoten Izaki and Earth Queen Lin Gui.

During the ensuing crisis, it was revealed to Mai Gui and the Council of Five (now Council of Three) that Loian Hemero had been coerced into signing an agreement with Water Chieftess Selene Amaryllis. The agreement effectively bound him to total loyalty to her and her family, and included the cession of the island of Seilkuq. This revelation further undermined his authority and legitimacy.

Following these events, Mai Gui, with the backing of the noble houses, declared herself the rightful Earth Queen and removed Loian Hemero from power, expelling him from Ba Sing Se and the Earth Kingdom entirely. His brief rule marked a central moment in the succession crisis known as the Year of the Four Monarchs.
