Aang was the Avatar during the final years of the Hundred Year War and the early post-war era. As the last known Air Nomad of his time, he played a central role in ending the war and shaping the world that followed. His actions in the years after the war had lasting effects on global politics, bending traditions, and the balance between the physical and spirit worlds. He was later succeeded by Avatar Sate, a waterbender from the Northern Water Tribe, who was revealed in 118 AG.

In 101 AG, Aang worked to prevent renewed conflict following the war. When tensions rose over the Harmony Restoration Movement, he intervened to stop a potential global war, promoting the idea that people of different nations could live together peacefully. During this period, he also founded the Air Acolytes, a group devoted to preserving Air Nomad culture and teachings despite the near extinction of his people.

In 102 AG, Aang supported early cooperation between the Earth Kingdom and Fire Nation, particularly in the former colonies. These developments contributed to the foundations of what would later become the United Republic of Nations. In 103 AG, Aang helped resolve rising tensions in Cranefish Town, where conflict broke out during Liling’s bender supremacist uprising. Alongside his allies, he played a role in defeating the uprising and restoring order.

In 104 AG, Aang attempted to restore airbending using energybending, but the effort failed. Frustrated, he withdrew from public life for a period, focusing on spiritual solutions to revive his people’s abilities. In 105 AG, he journeyed into the Spirit World and was guided by Avatar Wan to the ancient spirit Goj, believed to be one of the first spirits and the creator of the Lion Turtles.

In 106 AG, Aang sacrificed himself to Goj in exchange for the restoration of airbending. The spirit accepted, taking Aang into its presence for eternity. Following this, airbending returned in a limited form to the world, granting abilities to the Air Acolytes and some previously non-benders. His disappearance shocked the world and marked the end of his physical life. By 108 AG, the absence of the Avatar was strongly felt. Without Aang’s guidance, regions such as Cranefish Town faced uncertainty and increasing reliance on local leadership.

Although Aang’s successor was only revealed in 118 AG, his legacy endured throughout the intervening years. He is remembered as one of the most influential Avatars in history, for ending the Hundred Year War, promoting unity between nations, and restoring airbending through his final sacrifice.
