Emperor Azutoru Dainagon (98-156 AG) was a Sun Chief, Fire Lord, the first Sun Emperor, and the patriarch of Clan Dainagon. Born on the Fire Nation isle of Nozawa to its governor Soichiro Dainagon, Azutoru mastered firebending at age 13, became Daimyo of Nozawa at age 18, and Minister of Foreign Affairs to Fire Lord Ichida by age 20. After fleeing the Fire Nation after the military coup of 118, Azutoru eventually took up residence in La Bayān and won the position of Sun Chief after defeating Chief Yadaran in a game of pai sho. Azutoru transformed the government and infrastructure of the Sun Warriors, earning both praise and contempt from different factions of Sun Warrior society. Though his rule was controversial, both domestically and globally, he greatly expanded the territories and reach of the Sun Warriors, being responsible for the acquisition of the Bianqui archipelago, Hortezuca and Arangoy, the isles Azu and Izo (now Wei Gong and Sha Ying respectively), the Chameleons, and Repiras (the Sun Warrior colony in Republic City). Azutoru was also crucial to the rearing and protection of the Draconovo, the new generation of dragons descended from Ran and Shaw. He rode the gigantic black dragon Ranira.

Azutoru was widely known for his narcissistic and rapacious personality, and often took upon the highest of accolades such as naming himself Sun Emperor. He was also internationally recognized as a lustful casanova, having had numerous lovers and sired at least 9 children by 6 different partners, many of whom became monarchs in their own right of various nations. Although Azutoru led Clan Dainagon to its all-time zenith, his overextension and neglect of his family was also his undoing, as he is widely believed to have murdered his son-in-law Sun Chief N'Jadaka Raa, for which he was, in turn, murdered by his granddaughter Yimiso Raa-Dainagon. Even decades later, Azutoru's influence on international politics is unmatched, and to this day he stands as a primary figure in the 2nd century AG.
