Shu Mammon (玛蒙·舒; Mǎméng Shū; born Shu Oma; 6 Zǐyuè 146–18 Shēnyuè 169 AG) was a notorious day bloodbender. He became to be known as one of the most dangerous antagonist of his era, given his methods of torture and association with Rokah Mammon.
During the Siege of the Northern Pole, a coalition was formed to oppose the threats posed by Shu Mammon. With the assistance of the Amaryllis family, Shu was able to hide himself within the Northern Water Tribe. He was later discovered by the coalition and captured through a violent confrontation. Former Earth King Xaoten Izaki restrained Shu using metal clips, allowing Ren Rei to suffocate him as a means of subduing him, after which Shu was executed by Zaj Hinotatsu at the Beifong Estate in Gaoling; died on 18 Shēnyuè 169 AG thereafter.
Background
Shu was born as Shu Oma on 6 Ziyue 146 AG in the Southern Water Tribe to Hama Si and Ku Oma. His relationship with his family was estranged, and he eventually left his home after killing his childhood best friend, Can Kharr, thereafter moving to the Foggy Swamp. Shu later met Tiger Kai’morah, who revealed that he had once practiced bloodbending. Intrigued by this, Shu began secretly learning the element, which he referred to as "lifebending". He practiced by using dowsing rods to sense and find the water trapped within living things. He first began his training by successfully bloodbending a catgator.
However, his practice in the Swamp did not last long. Tiger eventually discovered Shu practicing bloodbending and kicked him from the Swamp, forcing him to return to the Southern Water Tribe.
Rise and Fall of Shu Mammon
Rise
After his return to the Southern Water Tribe, he constructed a secluded base within a mountain (eventually turned into a large dungeon later). It became the place where he would carry out much of his later work and continued his bloodbending training in secret.
Shu continued his bloodbending training in isolation, experimenting with the limits of what he could control. During his training, he had an obsession with the idea of a "perfect family". To fulfil this idea, he began kidnapping people based on the roles he believed were necessary for a family which were a mother, father, brother, and sister figure. His victims were brought to his dungeon and forced to participate in his idea.
Shu treated the people he kidnapped as members of a family while subjecting them to torture and bloodbending. Consequently, the dungeon became both his home and the base of his network of victims. As Shu’s activities increased, so did his notoriety.
Shu's early victims was a young woman from the Southern Water Tribe whom he initially named "Rabbit". Involving her into the idea of a family, posing the role of a sister-figure upon her, Shu also manipulated her into becoming attached to him, and encouraged her to adopt his beliefs surrounding "lifebending" (bloodbending). "Rabbit" became obsessed with Shu and was taught to practice bloodbending. Alongside Rokah, he had kidnapped Saya Zallira, who quickly sought Shu's trust by revealing her ability to bloodbend.
One of the major victims of Shu were Kal Kubohi (later known as Zaj Hinotatsu). Shu abducted Kal and held him captive within his dungeon for several months, subjecting him to several physical and psychological abuse. Degrading his dignity, Shu forced him into the role of a dog, giving him the nickname "Bluey". His treatment of Kal included forcing him to consume his own vomit. Eventually, the continued the physical and psychological torture pushed Kal to his limits. He manifested combustionbending, and used the newly awakened ability to escape from Shu.
After Fire Lord Hanako Hinotatsu learned of Shu's abuse of Kal, she sought revenge against Shu by targeting his parents, Hama Si and Ku Oma. Shu's parents died after Hanako released a mischief of rats eating through their chests.
Another significant act of Shu was the murder of Earth Queen Mai Gui. Shu mutilated her body and transformed it into a flesh doll before sending it to Ren Rei. He also killed Earth Queen Lin Gui, Mai's adoptive mother, impaling her with the femurs of a catgator before also turning her body into a doll. Before this, Lin was tortured by Rabbit after she blamed her for their failed escape plan. Lin was forced to play the role of a dog in Shu's picture of a family, taking over from Zaj who had escaped. She was given the nickname "Ginger" by both Shu and Rabbit.
Shu continued his teachings of lifebending with Bac Si, his maternal first cousin. He manipulated her into becoming another bloodbender, though his efforts did not show the same result he had with Rabbit. By this point, Shu had already attracted other bloodbenders to his cause, amassing small groups who worked alongside him. Shu later betrayed and killed another Dayblood, Saya Zallira.
Fall & Death
Shu and Rabbit hid together in the Sun Warriors with the help of Malvas Max'li Raa. Later, the Amaryllis family helped conceal both of them within the Northern Water Tribe where they remained until the coalition eventually discovered their location, which led to the Siege of the Northern Pole.
Shu was captured by the coalition with the help of Xaoten Izaki's metal clips, allowing Ren Rei to suffocate Shu as a means to subdue him, after which he was captured and later executed by Zaj Hinotatsu in a public execution event held at the Beifong Estate in Gaoling. Shu Mammon died aged 23 on 18 Shēnyuè 169 AG, bringing an end to his notorious activities as a bloodbender.
Following Shu's death, Rabbit who would later be known as Rokah, went into hiding moving between their former hideouts until she was eventually captured by Zaj Hinotatsu and Ren Rei.
