The Southern Water Tribe is the southern state of the Water Tribe located on the southern continent. The Southern Water Tribe is led by Naga Tona, while the Northern Water Tribe is led by Tahu Hu. The two Water Chiefs govern the Water Tribe through the unified council.

The Southern Water Tribe has experienced periods of prosperity and freedom, as well as periods of decline throughout its history.
