Xaolin Sangpō is the eleventh Air Elder of the Eastern Air Temple. He succeeded the former Eastern Air Elder Dante Sungakune. He became Eastern Elder shortly after becoming a guru in 176 AG, following the death of his brother Nilo Sangpō and the reappearance of his father.

Xaolin was born in the Western Air Temple but grew up in the Eastern Air Temple after being sent there during his childhood. He is the child of Dorje Sangpō and Lhamin Sangpō and has three siblings, one of whom is still alive.

History

Xaolin spent his early childhood in the Western Air Temple with his siblings. His mother died when he was nine years old, after which his father struggled to care for the family. Xaolin was sent to live in the Eastern Air Temple with his uncle.

At age 15, his uncle died, and Xaolin inherited the house they had lived in together. At 16, he became a Bante, and by 17 he had become a spirit guide.

Around 176 AG, Xaolin became a guru. Shortly after, his brother Nilo Sangpō died due to an incident involving a spirit cave in the Zeizhou province. Following this, Xaolin’s father Dorje Sangpō reappeared in Republic City after previously disappearing, later fleeing again to Ba Sing Se after learning of Nilo’s death.

Xaolin later brought Nilo’s body to the Western Infirmary. Following these events, he was appointed Eastern Air Elder.

In his personal life, Xaolin was in a relationship with Rin Mei, which ended due to communication issues. He later became involved with Neo Si’nela. During his tenure, he also dealt with recurring conflicts involving bloodbenders from the Water Tribes.
