Aruni Taoluk was the sister of Water Chief Hiroko Taoluk and served as a Luminary under Water Chieftess Zia. She became involved in a major internal Water Tribe conflict following accusations tied to the death of Chieftess Zia Yuka-Feng.
Sun Chief N'Jadaka publicly called for a trial against Aruni Taoluk, accusing her of assaulting him and another Sun Warrior on Sun Warrior territory.
