Introduction

Unlike in vanilla Minecraft, brewing is not as easy as adding an ingredient to a brewing stand and waiting for it to finish.

Depending on the recipe the whole process can be difficult and time consuming. Some recipes may need a high precision when it comes to ingredients or any other step in the process. If one step was not good enough, the quality of the potions may suffer, leading to side effects like bad alcohol and other toxics.

Depending on the recipe, some steps may not be needed, the following instruction describes the common procedure of brewing.

Fermenting

Step one consists of Fermenting the fresh ingredients:

  • Step 1: Place cauldron over a fire or other heat source
  • Step 2: Fill it with water
  • Step 3: Add ingredients with right click
  • Step 4: Wait a few minutes while they ferment
  • Step 5: Fill in glass bottles
Cauldron fermenting ingredients

Use a clock on the cauldron to get the amount of time the ingredients have been fermenting.

Distilling

Keep in mind that some recipes do not require distilling.

  • Step 1: Put the bottle with fermented content into the brewing stand
  • Step 2: Put the glowstone dust as a filter on top of the brewing stand (The filter will not be consumed)

Aging

A barrel is required for aging.

Minecraft barrel | 6 Slots

The Minecraft barrel can be used for aging of a few brews. Simply crat and place the barrel then put the brews inside.

Small barrel | 9 Slots

Use 8 wooden stairs to build a barrel shape as shown above. Place a sign on the lower right side and write "Barrel" in the upper line. A message "Barrel created" should then appear.

Big barrel | 27 Slots

Use 4 fences, 16 wooden stairs, and 18 wooden planks to build a barrel shape as shown above. Attach a spigot(5th fence) and a sign that has "Barrel" written on it in the upper line as shown above. Message "Barrel created" should then appear.

You may remove the sign from the Big Barrel after creating it.

Using the barrel

  • Open the barrel by clicking on it
  • For every Minecraft day, the brews will age a year
  • Depending on the recipe, the type of wood used for building the barrel may alter the quality of the age brew
  • The Minecraft barrel is alwats of wood type: Oak
  • The barrels can be locked by using /lock or /cprivate on the sign of the barrel.

Drinking

The amount of alcohol inside the brew will be applied to the player when drinking. Depending on the quality of it, that may have different effects.

  • The player may not be able to walk normally anymore, they will weave, making it also impossible to walk straight.
  • Effects like Blindness, Confusion, or Position (etc) may occur.
  • The chat will be altered depending on the drunkenness, many things players write may be incomprehensible, sometimes it seems senseless
  • If the alcohol particularly strong, it may have poisonous effects
  • After drinking a lot, there is a chance of vomiting
  • When logging off, the player may have difficulties reaching their character, thus some logins shortly after may be denied
  • After overdrinking the player may faint (disconnect)

Getting Sober

After drinking it takes a while until the alcohol is completely gone. During that time, the alcohol level is steadily decreasing. Also, it can be decreased through the consumption of coffee.

  • When logging off extremely drunk, it may happen that, if the player logs back in after a while, they may find themselves at a completely unknown place in the middle of nowhere having no idea how they got there
  • However, if they logs back in after some hours or next morning, they will find themselves at /home, again without any memories

Recipes

Some recipes are more difficult to master, others rather easy. That's also why some of the recipes here are kept a bit more vague.
